Land of Horses-Gestüt Peterhof, an internationally renowned dressage stable and stud farm
An FEI and Olympic level dressage center and equine wellness center, the 30-hectare Gestüt Peterhof stud, located on the border between Germany, Luxembourg and France, offers all the necessary amenities for training and to the breeding of horses intended for competition on the international scene.
Perl, Saarland, Germany (TK, 2023) - The Gestüt Peterhof stud farm is one of the most beautiful equestrian estates in the world. This 30 hectare property is located in the picturesque village of Perl-Borg on the Upper Moselle, a prime location in the border triangle of Germany, Luxembourg and France.
A haven for horses and riders, Gestüt Peterhof is an internationally renowned dressage stable that has hosted four FEI (International Equestrian Federation) tournaments and the Olympic qualifying events for the Rio 2016 Summer Games de Janeiro.
The equestrian complex can accommodate up to 40 horses, and planning permission has been granted to double this capacity. Grand Prix dressage horses in residence, training and at stud include Danish Warmblood stallion Sezuan, formerly ridden by German Olympic gold and silver medalist Dorothee Schneider – a five-year partnership which led to three world championship titles.
The price of Gestüt Peterhof is offered on request by Unicorn Real Estate. Fernand Hornung, director and founder, said: "There are equestrian estates, and then there is Gestüt Peterhof. The facilities for horses and riders are simply second to none, whether it is the dressage arenas approved by the FEI, the magnificent clubhouse or the state-of-the-art equine training and rehabilitation complex. It is an oasis of well-being in picturesque surroundings, grandiosely designed and lovingly maintained by its owners according to rigorous standards.
The property was built in 2011 by Arlette Jasper-Kohl, top dressage rider, interior designer and founder of VA-TOUT Design Studio, and Professor Edwin Kohl, founder and owner of the world's largest pharmaceutical importer. 'Germany, Kohlpharma. Mrs. Jasper-Kohl, who has always been an equestrian, oversaw the interior design and planning
architectural, a collaboration carried out hand in hand with Willen Associates Architekten, an avant-garde and environmentally friendly design firm based in Wiesbaden, Germany.
"The horses' needs for light, air and movement were the guiding principles in planning the Gestüt Peterhof stud farm. From an aesthetic and functional point of view, the site also aligns with our sensitivity goals environmental, sustainability, energy efficiency and social responsibility in daily operations," said Ms. Jasper-Kohl.
Professor Kohl added: "We sought to optimally combine equestrian functionality, architectural magnificence and the unique beauty of the location. The result is a paradise for equines and humans."
The estate is symmetrically aligned along an exact north-south axis, in accordance with the Kohls' wishes. The entrance, with its ascending avenue of trees, leads to a Mediterranean-inspired piazza surrounded by a group of buildings. In the center is a beautiful stone fountain. On one side of the piazza are the large, two-story Baroque-inspired main house and the adjacent stud manager's house, which can be combined to form a larger residence of 665 square meters (7,158 square feet). They face five elegant guest houses. Dominating the piazza is the "casino", a magnificent 560 square meter clubhouse featuring a restaurant, VIP lounges and a full range of facilities for entertaining, dining and relaxing.
The equestrian complex was designed to the same exacting standards. Gestüt Peterhof pampers its equine residents with 38 spacious stalls, each with an exterior window. They are arranged in stable wings connected by central grooming areas and wash bays, as well as an immaculate two-story tack room, furnished by Ralph Lauren Home. From there, horse and rider can access the 20 by 60 meter indoor arena, with an Otto sand surface, a wall of mirrors and floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the outdoors. The 20 x 60 meter outdoor arena is equipped with an Ebb and Flow irrigation system under the ground. A second outdoor arena, an indoor lunging ring and an all-weather galloping track allow for personalized training. The on-site equine wellness center (with veterinary clinic, rehabilitation and fitness complex) includes an aqua trainer, spa and infrared heat cabin. The stud farm is an insemination station certified by the European Union.
Surrounding the complex are eight year-round paddocks and 32 pastures, all with secure, safety-friendly plastic fencing.
Gestüt Peterhof is a turnkey operation; Farm machinery and maintenance equipment, as well as all furnishings, finishes, fixtures and appliances throughout the property are included in the sale. Some works from the owners' art collection may be sold separately.
The location offers the best of both worlds: secluded and private, yet close to local services and amenities, both in the village of Perl-Borg and the neighboring town of Merzig. Several international airports are also nearby, including Luxembourg LUX Airport, a hub for equine air transport. Luxembourg City, one of the three official capitals of the European Union and a center of commerce, is 30 minutes away. Paris is 90 minutes away by TGV.
