The Château de La Brillanne is located in the immediate vicinity of Aix-en-Provence, on the gentle slopes of the Puyricard plateau. Benefiting from an ideal orientation and protected from the winds by the relief, the estate is interspersed with small valleys that stretch to the Touloubre.
Originally, La Brillanne was a building dating back to the 15th century. At the end of the 19th century, the residence underwent significant modifications, with the addition of a floor and four square towers at the corners, giving it the status of a castle. Its roof was adorned with slate, adding to its noble appearance.
Over time, several renovations have transformed the building, while respecting the classical bastidaire architecture, both for its interiors and exteriors.
Today, this property covers a park of approximately 2.7 hectares, housing nearly 1,750 m² of built surface. The estate includes the castle, entirely restored in 2018, as well as three contemporary villas, a longhouse to be renovated, a feniere, and various outbuildings, including horse boxes and a garage that can accommodate about a dozen vehicles.
The garden preserves all the essence of Provence, with its basins fed by a natural spring from the Trévaresse, its fountains, and its wells. To the east of the residence, a wood shelters centuries-old trees, while a majestic alley of plane trees leads to the imposing entrance with a wrought iron gate, symbolizing the former prestige of the owners.
To complete the exterior, a large swimming pool, reminiscent of a Provencal basin, is located to the south, away from prying eyes.
In his book "Châteaux et bastides du Pays d'Aix," Provençal author René Borricand describes La Brillanne as a building with distinctive style: "An elegant facade of three floors, punctuated by five windows to admire the garden, a hipped roof with genoises, and square towers at each corner, bearing witness to the nobility of the place, whose owners held the title of marquis."
